Jennifer Medley is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Louisiana, where she defended state agencies and employees against road hazard/highway design defect claims, litigating Section 1983 actions, employment discrimination and constitutional claims, premises liability, and general/commercial liability claims. Jennifer is in the process to become certified in the procurement and management of major commercial and federal government contracts by the spring of 2010.
She received her law degree from Southern University Law Center and undergraduate degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. Ms. Medley is admitted to practice in all federal and state courts in the State of Louisiana as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
On January 7, 2010, the New Orleans City Council voted unanimously to appoint Ms. Medley to serve on the Board of Directors of the City's Municipal Yacht Harbor Management Corporation. The New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor Management Corporation (MYHMC) is a public benefit corporation of the City of New Orleans, which leases and manages all of the City's property in the "West End" area of New Orleans.
She is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, where she serves on the Diversity Committee, is a member of the Bar Association's House of Delegates and is the legislative chair of the minority involvement section of the state bar association. As legislative chair, Ms. Medley is leading the bar association’s efforts to convince the Louisiana legislature to make civics class a requirement for all high school students. She is also the corresponding secretary of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society.
She is a member of the Louisiana Association for Justice, the Federal Bar Association, Thomas More Inn of Court, American Bar Association, and the National Bar Association.
She is an elected member of the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee, a fellow of the Loyola Institute of Politics and former Commissioner of the Kenilworth Improvement District.
She is a graduate and scholarship recipient of the ABA TIPS National Trial Academy at the National Judicial College and a recipient of the ABA Young Lawyers Division scholarship for minorities in the government sector.
